Clarification regarding the loan deferment program

We would like to inform the public and banking clients that the news article published on April 22, in koha.net and later in the evening news on KTV, was a misinterpretation, where it was stated that “CBK, at the request of banks, defers loan payments for another 3 months”.

We would like to inform the general public that the announcement of March 16, 2020 of the CBK and KBA still stands and is being implemented by banks and no new announcement has been made but only a clarification of the existing decision quoted below:

Based on the decisions as above, the CBK together with KBA have jointly decided that for businesses and individuals, who due to the situation occurred in the country and the reduction of the level of their revenues, to allow them to suspend the payment of loan installments, starting from 16 March 2020 until 30 April 2020, and depending on the situation, this suspension can be considered for a longer period.

Based on this agreement, all banks have provided solutions to their clients who have met the conditions for the loan deferral program. Banks aim to continuously provide all banking services without interruption and to stay close to their customers in overcoming the pandemic situation. At the same time, the stability of the banking sector will continue to be maintained so that the banking sector will be able to make a valuable contribution to the post-pandemic economic recovery phase through the financing of households and businesses.
