Kosovo Banking Association reacts against the armed attack of one of the commercials bank in Pristina

20.11.2020, Pristina

The Kosovo Banking Association estimates that the security situation in the country for businesses and in particular for the banking sector is alarming and is constantly deteriorating. Today, one of the commercial banks in Prishtina was attacked through the use of firearms and explosives. The banking sector condemns this evil act committed by criminal groups which do not hesitate at all to use explosive devices and firearms to achieve their goals, even in the most frequented neighborhoods and streets of the capital city. This security situation is unacceptable, both for the banking sector and for the business community and our society.

The attack took place on street "B" where, in addition to the damage caused to the bank and surrounding businesses, gunshots were heard against security officials and in the direction of the surrounding buildings, endangering the residents of the area. Last month a similar attack was carried out against another commercial bank in Ferizaj with similar amounts of damage and a high degree of risk.

We urge the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the security institutions to act swiftly and decisively against these groups that have frequent attacks and damages they have increased the intensity and extent of the risk to life and property. Our society must not tolerate the loss of security in the country and the terrorization of businesses and citizens by criminal groups everywhere in Kosovo.
