Kosovo Banking Association reacts after the armed attack of a commercial bank branch and injuring of a police officer

18.12.2020, Pristina

The Kosovo Banking Association has reacted regarding the armed attack carried out in the early hours of this morning against a commercial bank branch in Pristina, where unfortunately a police officer was injured.

The banking sector has followed with great concern an increase in the number of bank attacks using weapons and explosives during 2020. The Kosovo Banking Association has reacted several times during the year, thus raising the alarm that attacks and attempted robberies that are happening are becoming more and more violent by endangering human life and property. Related to this negative phenomenon, numerous meetings were held with the Kosovo Police where it was emphasized that there should be intensive investigations to uncover cases that occurred earlier because if no previous cases are detected, then the number of attacks may continue to grow in the near future by even endangering people’s lives.

The Kosovo Banking Association expresses its gratitude and appreciation to the banking sector for the work being done by the Kosovo Police to increase the security of the country and hoping a fast recovery for the police officer. At the same time, we call on the Government of Kosovo to support the Kosovo Police with the necessary resources so that they can perform their duties successfully and with high security.
