The Kosovo Banking Association reacts against the armed robbery of a commercial bank in Pristina

15.01.2021, Pristina

On 12.01.2021 a commercial bank was robbed by a gunman and shocked the staff and the customers of the bank by threatening them with a firearm. This criminal act occurred after a series of criminal attacks that the banking sector has suffered from groups and individuals who still remain on the run and for whom there is no information that they have been identified or arrested by the Kosovo security institutions. The activity of the banking sector in Kosovo is being severely affected by these actions and that the security situation for this sector has reached the lowest level ever, since the declaration of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Kosovo Banking Association urges the responsible authorities to be more committed in prosecuting and detecting these cases, and at the same time we urge the prosecution institutions to be more committed in bringing these cases to justice by providing the facts necessary to impose severe sentences which would discourage these attacks that might severely endanger life and property in Kosovo.

The Kosovo Banking Association states that the year we left behind was the year with the most armed attacks on banking institutions and that much greater measures and mobilization of relevant institutions are needed to increase the level of security in Kosovo.
