Paying and shopping online safely

Kosovo Banking Association in cooperation with Visa is launching the awareness campaign “Paying and shopping online safely”.

Online payments and shopping have become a necessity for citizens, not only in Kosovo but globally. This enables that the number of online payments and shopping to grow at a very fast pace. Technological changes and smart devices, especially smartphones, are an integral part of our daily life and are the main components that enable online payments. Thus, all online payments and shopping nowadays can be made with just one click of a button from the comfort of your place, whether it is from home or work, day or night 24/7.

In addition to the rapid development and advancement of technology, the habits of people in doing daily tasks have also changed. As a result, the way of processing the payments, as well as the form of doing shopping, have been further advanced against such technological development.

Regional research “I choose digital” conducted by VisaISA in South-East Europe confirms that the consumers in Kosovo show great interest in online shopping via smartphones. Compared to online shopping from the laptop, mobile commerce (m-commerce) is by far the most preferred method which indicates almost 9 out of 10 surveyed participants use this method. Around 10 percent of orders of products are done online via their laptops, while only one percent practice this kind of shopping from desktop computers.

According to this study, the data shows that users in Kosovo indicate they opt for online shopping via smartphones due to convenience (52 percent), simplicity (41 percent), and speed (40 percent). At the same time, 22 percent of respondents believe that paying with a smartphone provides personalized recommendations, as well as specific content based on the users’ location.

The dynamic environment in which we are living nowadays has reduced the time for many daily activities, as a result, the need to save time and have a safe and convenient payment platform for shopping is growing. Commercial banks in Kosovo follow the best EU standards for e-commerce and m-commerce and consumer protection, which enables many advantages for paying and online shopping in a convenient and safe way.

• - Get detailed information about the products;

We are grateful to Visa and commercial banks of Kosovo for supporting this campaign which will take place during September – December 2021 and is expected to have a positive impact on informing the citizens of Kosovo about the advancement and the possibilities that are now offered in the banking sector payment services.
