Kosovo Banking Association in collaboration with Mastercard organized the "Banking Cybersecurity Forum 2024."
Cybersecurity in the banking sector has become one of the top priorities for financial institutions. With the advancement of technology and the increasing use of online banking services, protection against cyber threats is essential to maintaining customer trust and the integrity of the financial industry. The "Banking Cybersecurity Forum 2024," organized by the Kosovo Banking Association in collaboration with Mastercard, brought together professionals and experts in cybersecurity in Prishtina to discuss cooperation, best practices in cybersecurity, the latest developments in the field, and future challenges.
The forum was opened with a welcome speech by the CEO of the Kosovo Banking Association, Petrit Balija. The opening remarks continued with Suat Bakkal, Chairman of the Board of Directors at KBA/CEO of BKT, Bartosz Ciolkowski, Executive Vice President for Southeast Europe at Mastercard, and Milot Cakaj, Deputy Governor for Financial Supervision at the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo.
This year's forum was of particular importance to the banking sector, helping to strengthen security, promote cooperation between local, regional, and international institutions, and update the financial system in the face of a rapidly evolving threat landscape. The forum included two discussion panels. The first panel addressed the topic "The Role of Cybersecurity in Maintaining Trust in the Banking System: Fast Payments and Other Digital Payment Developments." The second panel covered the topic "Enhancing Cybersecurity through Inter-Institutional and International/Regional Cooperation." The forum also featured two presentations covering important topics: "Overview of Global Cybersecurity Developments, with a Focus on Challenges and Activities in Kosovo" and "The Sophistication of Cyberattacks - How to Build Resilience."
