E-Commerce Forum organized by Kosovo Banking Association and VISA is concluded

E-Commerce has become an important part of our lives. Selling and buying goods and services over the Internet offers greater convenience and opportunity for both businesses and consumers. Kosovo Banking Association and VISA have organized the E-Commerce Forum, with participants from commercial banks of Kosovo, state institutions, organizations and e-commerce platforms. The forum opened with remarks from Mr. Petrit Balija, Chief Executive Officer at Kosovo Banking Association and Mrs. Tamara Gavrilovic, Business Development Manager at Visa. The keynote speech is given by Mergim Cahani, founder and CEO of Gjirafa.

The E-Commerce Forum offered opportunities for expansion and innovation in the field of electronic commerce within Kosovo and in the region, making it a fundamental part of the modern economy. Electronic commerce has revolutionized the way businesses operate and consumers shop, and has become an important part of the global economy, so such forums are essential in deepening cooperation, overcoming challenges and further development.

Banks play a crucial role in facilitating e-commerce transactions in a region by providing financial services, infrastructure, and security that enable businesses and consumers to engage in online commerce. First panel of the E-Commerce Forum discussed exactly this topic and consisted of Florent Lila, Head of Product Management and Development at Raiffeisen Bank

Lumni Rrustolli, Director of Payments at Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova, Slobodan Lukic, Head of Merchant Sales & Acquiring for Southeast Europe, VISA,  Suat Bakkal, Chief Executive Officer at BKT Bank / Chairman at  Kosovo Banking Association and was moderated by Erëblina Kaçiu, Business Analyst at EBAA.

Cross-border e-commerce offers both challenges and opportunities. Cross-border e-commerce can lead to collaborations and partnerships with businesses and organizations in the region, which can create new opportunities for growth and market expansion, that is why the second panel of the E-Commerce Forum discusses this important topic.

Second panel was moderated by Fisnik Behxheti, Head of Operations at PriBank and consisted of Blerta Nazifi Krasniqi, Senior Product Specialist at ProCredit Bank, Ermin Brkic, Chief Executive Officer at Korpa Filip Cizhbanovski, Vice President of Macedonian eCommerce Association, Dardan Nimani, Head of Special Projects at Gjirafa.

Cross-border e-commerce allows businesses to tap into new markets and reach a broader international audience, which can lead to increased sales and business growth. Success in cross-border e-commerce often depends on a combination of strategic planning, adaptation to local conditions, and effective partnerships with key stakeholders in the region therefore, the organization of such forums is very important.

Banks are critical partners in the e-commerce, supporting secure, efficient, and reliable electronic transactions. Their role extends beyond financial services, including payment processing, risk management, security, and regulatory compliance. In doing so, they contribute to the growth and success of e-commerce.
