The KBA Sustainable Banking Subcommittee is established

13.05.2022, Pristina

The banking sector in Kosovo, as one of the most important pillars of the country’s financial stability, is making an important contribution towards raising the awareness and transparency of financial actors, business enterprises, and state authorities, on the need to adopt the necessary criteria for a greener Kosovo, a more stable economy, and better corporate governance.

By gradually raising the standards for sustainable financing, we can ensure a cleaner environment for Kosovo. We can also be drivers of reducing informality, which would in turn increase the country’s social and economic well-being, as well as of providing easier access to finance for marginalized groups.

Therefore, the Kosovo Banking Association has established, within the Risk Committee, a Sub-committee on Sustainable Banking, one of the principal objectives of which is to contribute to policy making in this area, so that the banking sector in Kosovo is part of sustainable financing and part of reporting frameworks, both at the national and global level.

During the first meeting of this sub-committee, held on May 13, 2022, representatives of commercial banks, members of the Committee, voted as Chair of the Committee Mrs. Antigona Limani Bejtullahu, Head of Sustainability and PR Department at Raiffeisen Bank in Kosovo. Mr. Fatos Hasani, Head of Environmental Management Unit at ProCredit Kosovo, was elected deputy Chair.
